This is a replica model gun of the revolver officially adopted by the Imperial Japanese Army in 1893 (Meiji 26).
Reflecting the original doctrine of handgun use at the time, which emphasized firing rapidly in double-action mode as a means of intimidation, this revolver features a highly unusual design. It is double-action only, has no cylinder stop mechanism when the trigger is not fully pulled, and is equipped with a hammer without a spur.
Other distinctive features include its top-break action, a hinged side plate that can be opened and closed without the use of screws, and a circular cross-section grip — design elements that have long since disappeared from modern revolvers. These characteristics make it a particularly fascinating historical reproduction.
Through meticulous research, Hartford has faithfully recreated the complex contours of the original firearm, offering a model gun that accurately reproduces both its functions and mechanical construction.
